    Performance Characteristics

    Mechanical properties: The tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation of ductile iron are superior to ordinary gray cast iron, and even comparable to some steels. For example, ductile iron (ADI) that has undergone isothermal quenching treatment has bainite and residual austenite structures, significantly improving tensile strength and wear resistance. It can replace forged steel in the manufacturing of automotive towing hooks, bushings, and crankshafts, achieving a weight reduction of more than 10%.
    Wear resistance: Ductile iron has better wear resistance than non alloy steel and is suitable for manufacturing wear-resistant parts.
    Casting performance: The casting performance of ductile iron is better than that of cast steel, and it can cast parts with complex shapes and uneven wall thickness.
    Processing performance: The processing performance of ductile iron is almost comparable to that of gray cast iron, and it is easy to cut and grind.
    Corrosion resistance: In most municipal applications such as water, salt water, steam, etc., ductile iron has higher corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance than cast steel.
